TAFE Queensland IRON CHEF Competition
14 Sep, 2018
Surely you remember the cult classic Iron Chef? THE battle royale of the top chefs of cuisine from around the world – the ‘invincible men of culinary skills.’ Well, a mini-version of the cult classic Iron Chef ‘theme-ingredient-pressurised-cooking-challenge-extraordinaire’ was held at TAFE Cairns with a large number of domestic students, apprentices as well as TAFE Queensland international Commercial Cookery students.
The winner was our very own International student all the way from Korea Anne (Hyemin) Park who is currently studying Stage IV Commercial Cookery. She has won an all-expense paid trip to Japan where she will work alongside Executive and Sous Chefs at the world famous La Rochelle owned by Chef Sakai.
Iron Chef Sakai, came to TAFE Cairns some weeks ago to launch the competition and share his “washoku” secrets with TAFE students and invited guests. Combining sophistication and simplicity, the beautiful and the unpretentious – “washoku”, literally means the food of Japan. To prepare it – you need great skill.
